Signet Announces Transition in Legal Leadership Role

Signet Chief Legal & Transformation Officer Lynn Dennison to step down, effective Aug. 31, 2020
Company appoints Signet General Counsel Stash Ptak to newly elevated role

Signet today announced that after nearly a decade of service, Lynn Dennison has decided to step down as the company’s Chief Legal & Transformation Officer effective August 31, 2020. She will continue in her role through August to support a seamless transition. The company also announced that General Counsel Stash Ptak will transition into the lead Legal role effective August 1.

Lynn joined Signet in 2011 as Senior Vice President, Legal, Compliance and Risk Management. Throughout her tenure, she has been instrumental in developing the legal, risk management and compliance teams and managed several business functions over the years.  Lynn also played a key role in many strategic initiatives, including the acquisitions of Zales and R2Net, and development of aspects of our Path to Brilliance transformation plan.

“I want to thank Lynn for her sage leadership and her many significant contributions to Signet.  Lynn has been both a valuable part of our leadership team and a trusted advisor since joining the company in 2011,” said Signet CEO Gina Drosos. “While we will miss Lynn, thanks to her strong mentorship, we are thrilled to be able to draw from our deep bench and elevate Stash to this important leadership position. No doubt, he will continue to be a key player in transforming our company and navigating through the pandemic in this vital role.”

“I want to thank Gina, Todd Stitzer and our entire Board for the many opportunities I’ve been afforded over the past nine years,” Dennison said. “I’ve enjoyed working with such an outstanding team, and I’m proud of the progress we’ve made together. I’m leaving with confidence that Stash and the team will continue to do great work and drive results. I’ll look forward to watching Signet’s next chapter unfold.”

In his new role, Ptak will report to the CEO and oversee the company’s legal, governance, compliance, enterprise risk management and asset protection functions.  He joined Signet nearly 15 years ago, learning and delivering results while working in departments including Merchandise Planning and Inventory before joining the legal team in 2012, initially focusing on commercial and real estate matters.

In January 2019, Ptak’s role was expanded to include leadership of the legal, risk, compliance and asset protection functions, and a year ago, he was promoted to SVP and General Counsel as Signet continued to advance its ongoing succession planning.  He holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Finance and International Business, and a Master of Business Administration and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Akron. He and his wife, Lisa, and four children are lifelong residents of the Akron area.

“I am honored and excited to take on this expanded role,” Ptak said. “I can’t thank Lynn enough for her mentorship, and the opportunity and confidence that she, Gina and the Board placed in me. I look forward to helping Signet continue its momentum and help ensure that we emerge from this period both a stronger and more-focused company and team.”

Lynn and Stash will begin a smooth transition effective July 1.
